It has been claimed that Juventus are willing to let go of Paulo Dybala, and Liverpool are taking note of the development.
It’s easy to forget that Paulo Dybala, Juventus’ star attacker, is just 25 years of age. The Argentine, who was dubbed “the next Messi’ has had a dip in form while also being outshone at the Italian club by other attackers.
The arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus, as well as Juve manager Massimiliano Allegri having a host of talented attackers at his disposal, has seen Dybala’s stock fall a bit.
Corriere dello Sport (via Calcio Mercato) are reporting that Liverpool could be one of the many clubs who have been alerted by Dybala’s situation, and will have to pay €80m for the Argentine star.
Dybala has scored 10 goals and assisted 6 times in the season so far, which is a significant fall from his previous campaigns where he scored 20+ goals in two of the last three seasons.
The attacker has been moved around, playing on the right, as a central striker, as well as behind the striker, but hasn’t been able to deliver the goods.
Dybala can take Liverpool to another level
Liverpool have had a phenomenal season, reaching the Champions League semi-final as well as following closely on the coattails on Manchester City in the league.
Jurgen Klopp’s men have impressed and excited Liverpool (and neutral) fans with their fearless attacking play, while their defence was significantly bolstered with the arrival of Virgil van Dijk.
Where Liverpool have lacked is strength in depth in the attacking areas, especially the central striker position. The trio of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, and Mohamed Salah have had another great season, but Liverpool lack quality attackers on the bench.
Daniel Sturridge has not been able to replicate his performances from the 2013-14 season, Divock Origi is not cut out for a top side like Liverpool, while Xherdan Shaqiri, despite scoring 14 goals this season, does not have the magic touch that can influence games.
A player like Dybala, who is versatile, has an eye for goal, and can thread a killer pass, would be a good fit for Klopp’s side.
The Argentine has the work rate and the passing ability that Klopp looks for in his attacking players, while the signing of a young superstar like Dybala would be a huge statement of intent by Liverpool.
