Crystal Palace might be on the verge of losing Wilfried Zaha in the summer, as head coach Roy Hodgson has confirmed that “he is powerless” to prevent the English attacker from leaving the Selhurst Park.
Zaha himself has admitted that he wants to play at the highest level of club football – the Champions League. So he might be a wanted commodity in the summer transfer window.
We take a look at three clubs who should target the fleet-footed winger.
Arsenal
Arsenal are in dire need of attacking reinforcements in the coming summer, with Aaron Ramsey set to join Juventus on a free transfer.
Unai Emery is reportedly keen to offload Mesut Ozil, who has struggled for consistency and isn’t getting any younger.
The Gunners will only have Alex Iwobi and Henrikh Mkhitaryan as their bonafide creative attackers next season. Therefore, Zaha is a viable target for the north London giants as they aim to start a new era under Emery in the following campaign.
While Zaha’s ability to score goals will definitely prove beneficial in attack, he can also create chances for his team using his quick feet and ability to draw defenders.
He will cost a bit of money, but Zaha is a proven attacker and would add some much-needed spark to the Arsenal attack that has blown hot and cold this season.
Borussia Dortmund
After a disappointing defeat to Schalke on Saturday, Borussia Dortmund have very little chance to pip Bayern Munich to the title this season.
But, the Black and Yellows are expected to be in for a busy transfer window ahead as they look to improve their attacking options, especially after Chelsea’s acquisition of star winger Christian Pulisic.
Additionally, young English sensation Jadon Sancho has been a subject of major transfer interest from top clubs across Europe, thus accentuating the need for a new attacker this summer.
Zaha, in that regard, could be an excellent option given his elite dribbling skills as well as the dynamism he brings into the final third that could easily suit Dortmund’s attack-oriented gameplay under Lucien Favre.
Manchester United
A return to Manchester United is always an option for Zaha, especially having performed so well during his time at Crystal Palace.
In fact, the Red Devils have shown keen interest to re-sign the English attacker as they aim to bolster their attacking department that has struggled this season.
This could be beneficial for Zaha, who has a knack for his scoring goals while his versatility will allow Ole Gunnar Solskjaer either as a winger or as a partnering centre-forward to someone like Marcus Rashford, thus making him a tailor-made fit for the Norwegian next season.
