3 big money transfers likely to go through this summer: Man United in the thick of the action

Like most transfer windows in recent years, Premier League clubs seem determined to spend big on star players from all over Europe this summer.

The likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United are pretty much active in the transfer market, looking at players who can improve their squad before the start of the new season.

We are just a fortnight away from the new league campaign and these few days might see a number of big-money transfers from the biggest clubs in the competition.

Here are three such mega-signings that could yet go through before the start of the new season.

Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace to Arsenal/ Everton)

The former Manchester United star has been linked with a move to Emirates for more than two transfer windows now. The Gunners have already had a £40m bid rejected by Crystal Palace earlier this summer. The Eagles need a bid close to £70m to let their star player leave any time soon. Arsenal are already looking at alternatives in Brazil international Everton but if they fail to land a winger in the next week, they may be tempted to meet Zaha’s valuation. The English winger is also linked with a move to Everton so if either club meets the asking price, Zaha could well be on the move this summer.

Bruno Fernandes (Sporting CP to Manchester United/ Liverpool)

The Portuguese international was one of the best players in Liga NOS last season and has extensively been linked with a move to England this summer. Both Manchester clubs and Liverpool are showing interest but are yet to make an official approach for the player. United and Liverpool have been scouting for the 24-year old, who has recently revealed that he is open to playing in the Premier League. Sporting CP boss Marcel Keizer also claimed that he might not be able to keep hold of Fernandes this summer. He is expected to cost around £65m this summer but with both clubs still desperate for midfield additions, Fernandes may well seal his move to England before the start of the new campaign.

Harry Maguire (Leicester City to Manchester United)

Finally, the biggest saga within the Premier League this summer, Harry Maguire’s move to Manchester United, may still be on the cards. The Red Devils need centre-backs who can make an impact right away next season and the Leicester City star fits the bill perfectly. The Foxes have already rejected a £70m bid from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, which has put this move on hold. But United are yet to make progress in signing another defender and might be back for Maguire as time runs out in the transfer window. It looks like the Red Devils will have to make the English international the most expensive defender in Europe to try and land him this summer. But Manchester United can well afford it, which makes this deal a possibility this summer.
