Manchester United will host Manchester City in a few hours in what is the most significant fixture in the title race at this point in time.
The Sky Blues are chasing a domestic treble and a slip up at Old Trafford might prove to be disastrous for their title ambitions with Liverpool just a single point behind them.
United, meanwhile, are facing a fight to finish in the top 4 and a poor run of form since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s permanent appointment has put them on the backfoot in a race which seemed done and dusted following their tremendous turnaround since Jose’s sacking.
A 0-4 loss against Everton will be fresh in their memory given the events transpired a couple of days back but this being the derby, the players will be up for the challenge and City will have to make sure they are on the top of their game to collect all 3 points.
MANCHESTER UNITED TEAM NEWS
Luke Shaw is back after serving a 2-match suspension.
Ander Herrera and Eric Bailly are doubts but we expect the Spaniard to start today.
Antonio Valencia remains out.
PREDICTED MAN UNITED LINEUP vs MANCHESTER CITY (4-3-1-2)
DEFENCE
David de Gea will start in goal. The Spaniard needs to come up with a big display after his travails this season.
Ashley Young’s experience and determined defending might see him get a start at right-back.
Victor Lindelof and Chris Smalling will start as the centre-backs.
Luke Shaw will start as the left-back in what will come as a huge boost for the home team.
MIDFIELD
We expect a start for Ander Herrera especially after Nemanja Matic’s poor display against Everton. If passed fit, the Spanish midfielder seems certain to start.
Scott McTominay will sit deep in the midfield and will look to carry on his streak of impressive displays against top sides this season.
Paul Pogba will complete the midfield trio and much will depend on how he performs throughout the 90 minutes.
ATTACK
Anthony Martial is likely to make way for Jesse Lingard while we expect Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford to retain their places.
Martial was subpar the other day and he might have to do with a spot on the bench.
