Liverpool have a key game against Barcelona coming up on Wednesday, and the Reds will hope to keep their impressive form in the Champions League going.
Jürgen Klopp’s side have not lost a game since January when they were beaten by Wolves in the FA Cup, and Barcelona will not have it all their way come Wednesday.
The Reds are still in contention to finish the season with a couple of trophies, but while the Premier League is out of their hands as Manchester City don’t seem like they will drop any more points, Barcelona have just won the Spanish league and will want to target a treble.
Liverpool Team News
Klopp’s side eased past Huddersfield Town in the last game, and the good news is the likes of Roberto Firmino and Fabinho are in line to start after missing the last game.
Firmino’s role will be crucial against a Barcelona side that like to keep the ball, and Fabinho will be essential in stopping the likes of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.
Predicted Liverpool Lineup vs Barcelona
Defence
Virgil van Dijk, who recently won the PFA Player of the year award, will have a tough game against one of the best attacks in Europe, and he is likely to be paired up with Joel Matip who will have a role to play in the transition as well as the defending bit.
Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold will look to test Barcelona on the break as the Blaugrana full-backs are susceptible to quick wide players.
Midfield
Fabinho should start in the defensive midfield role, and he is likely to be supported by Naby Keita and Jordan Henderson.
While Fabinho will be crucial in shielding the defence, the duo of Keita and Henderson will have to do their stuff with the pressing and running which is always a big deal against a side like Barcelona who like to keep the ball.
Attack
Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane are two in form players and are in a race for the Premier League golden boot. The fans will hope the duo can keep up their form.
Firmino should start in the number nine role in the Liverpool lineup.
