PREVIEW
Manchester United are due to be hosted by Paris Saint-Germain at Parc des Princes on Wednesday for the second leg of the Champions League Round of 16 tie.
With PSG emerging 2-0 winners in the first leg at Old Trafford, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men have to stage a remarkable comeback if they are to pave their way into the quarter-finals of the aforesaid competition.
Intriguingly, Manchester United have been in a rich vein of form in the domestic competitions following their defeat at the hands of Thomas Tuchel’s side.
They knocked Chelsea out of the FA Cup in the 5th round, drew with Liverpool in the Premier League fixture and followed that up with wins over Crystal Palace and Southampton.
Meanwhile, PSG have been thoroughly dominant in Ligue 1 and have won all of their last five league games following their successful trip to the Theatre of Dreams.
It is a do or die situation for the English giants and they are likely to go out all guns blazing, although it would take a herculean effort from them to defeat PSG especially with the Red Devils going through a massive injury crisis.
TEAM NEWS
Paris Saint-Germain
Tuchel’s troops will be bereft of the services of Neymar due to a metatarsal injury which he suffered while plying his trade against Strasbourg in January.
Edinson Cavani will also miss out which will put the onus back on Kylian Mbappe to lead the attack, something which he is very much capable of.
Manchester United
The Red Devils will be without Paul Pogba after he picked up two yellow cards in the first leg. Ander Herrera and Nemanja Matic are out due to their muscle injuries.
Alexis Sanchez is out for up to eight weeks owing to knee ligament damage, while Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata will also be unavailable for the upcoming fixture due to injury.
Besides, Anthony Martial has also not trained and might be earmarked for a start against Arsenal, whereas Phil Jones, Matteo Darmian and Antonio Valencia are also out.
