Leicester City are expected to be busy in the summer transfer window, and have reportedly put Porto forward Moussa Marega on their radar.
The 27-year old has been in fine form for the Portuguese outfit, and has a €40 million release clause.
According to Portuguese outlet Correio da Manha (via TalkSPORT), Leicester will compete with West Ham United for the Mali international.
Moussa Marega – Fact file
Marega signed for Porto from Maritimo in January transfer window of 2016, and after a tough start there, he was sent out on loan to Vitoria Guimaraes.
The forward impressed in his season-long loan spell at Guimaraes, as he managed 13 goals in 25 Liga NOS appearances.
The impressive form and tally set him up nicely for his first full season with Porto and Marega didn’t disappoint.
The 27-year old mustered an incredible 22 strikes in 29 appearances for Porto in the 2017-18 season and thereby rose to prominence.
This season, Marega hasn’t been as prolific as last season in the league, having managed seven goals in 20 league appearances, but his form in the Champions League helped Porto beat last season’s semi-finalists AS Roma.
Marega’s six goals in seven Champions League appearances has caught everyone by surprise and he’s a man in form at the moment.
What would Moussa Marega add to Leicester?
Marega’s presence in the box is a big threat as it’s hard to mark him because of his physical attributes. The 27-year old is tall and excels in aerial duels.
Pace is another thing Marega has in plenty and when it comes to a foot-race, he doesn’t come second too many times. Leicester currently have an agile forward in Jamie Vardy, but considering Marega is 27, he’d be a long term successor for Vardy.
Marega can hold the ball in the attacking third and bring his teammates into play, and has managed at least one key pass per game on an average.
One thing worth noting that Marega’s assists this season has improved, and he is currently on six, just one behind his best return of seven when he was at Maritimo. That pretty much suggests that his overall gameplay has improved.
Marega has performed at the highest stage in Europe, and is at the peak of his prowess, so he’d be a good addition to Leicester for a fee of €40 million.
