Tottenham Hotspur look to beat Arsenal for Serie A star: A good addition

Tottenham Hotspur are ready to challenge arch-rivals Arsenal in the pursuit of AC Milan attacker Suso this summer, according to reports.

As per Mirror, Spurs have re-ignited their interest in the Spaniard, who has emerged as one of Serie A’s most effective playmakers this season.

However, the Lilywhites could face stiff competition from north London rivals Arsenal, who are also courting the Suso.

Why Suso would be a good addition to Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham have struggled with injuries to their star players this season, particularly in the attacking department. Dele Alli has just mustered only 1,199 minutes of league action and has been ruled out until next month, while the likes of Lucas Moura and Erik Lamela have struggled with lack of consistency.

As a result, Son Heung-min and Christian Eriksen are only reliable options in the creative department, with the former largely being utilised as a frontman in the absence of Harry Kane.

Eriksen has been linked with a move to Real Madrid in the summer, so the addition of someone like Suso could certainly revamp Spurs’ creative department as they aim to continue their push for the title next season.

The Milan attacker, predominantly a right-winger, has found immense success under Gennaro Gattuso this season, and has been involved in 13 goals in just 22 matches.

As a matter of fact, only Cristiano Ronaldo has managed to register more assists than Suso, whose tally of 2.8 key passes per game is second only to Alejandro Gomez’s 3.1 in the league, thus making him one of Europe’s most effective playmakers this season.

The above stats could be highly beneficial to Spurs, who have been overreliant on the services of Eriksen, at times, as far their creativity is concerned.

Suso is an excellent passer, who is quite comfortable with the ball at his feet. With his ability to pick a pass in the attacking third as well as drive forward on the break, he would be a good addition to the team.

Additionally, Suso, aside from his preferred right-wing position, can also operate as the central attacking midfielder, which could benefit Spurs should they lose out on Eriksen’s services in the summer.

All things considered, Suso is certainly a viable target for the Lilywhites.
