It was another weekend filled with spectacular goals and important results in the Premier League. Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, all won their respective matches, making the title race and the race for the Top 4 even more interesting.
There were a number of superb performances on offer from some of the best attackers in the league, and we will take a brief look at three of them in this article.
#3 Son Heung-Min (1 goal against Newcastle United)
Just when it was looking like Tottenham Hotspur were going to get bogged down by the absence of Harry Kane, in came the South Korean international with his immense energy and flair to get Spurs out of trouble and hand them three invaluable points against a resilient Newcastle United side.
Rafa Benitez’s men did their best to keep Son at bay but he found the space to take his shot in the 83rd minute and with a little help from the Newcastle custodian Martin Dubravka, the Tottenham forward made sure they kept the pressure on Manchester City and Liverpool going.
#4 Gonzalo Higuain (2 goals against Huddersfield Town)
The Argentine star announced his arrival in the Premier League with a bang in only his second match as he scored a brace to lead the Blues to a massive 5-0 win over the Terriers. Maurizio Sarri’s men haven’t had the best time in recent outings in the Premier League and their 4-0 defeat against Bournemouth away from home led to a lot of criticism of the manager and the players.
The brace not only helped the Blues get three very important points but also helped them hold on to a place in the top four in the league table.
#1 Sergio Aguero (Hat-trick against Arsenal)
Just like Higuain, his compatriot Sergio Aguero showed why he is hailed as one of the best strikers in the game as he scored a hat-trick against the Gunners. Arsenal looked clueless against the relentless pressure put on them by the reigning champions and Aguero took full advantage of their defensive lapses to complete his second hat-trick of the season and lead his side to a very important win.
The win means City keep the pressure on Liverpool intact which is wonderful news for the neutrals who have been starved of a competitive title race in the Premier League for a long time now.
