After dropping two points against Leicester City on Wednesday, Liverpool will hope to get back to winning ways when they take on West Ham United on Monday.
The Reds took an early lead against Leicester, but were pegged back just before half time and couldn’t find the winner in the second half.
Despite the draw, Liverpool saw their lead at the top of the table increase to five points, as Manchester City were surprisingly beaten by Newcastle United on Tuesday. Spurs’ win on Saturday, however, means the Lilywhites are now second and four behind the Reds.
Liverpool, like West Ham United, have a few injury concerns, especially at the back.
Liverpool Team News
Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold are still out injured and the Reds received a blow after Jurgen Klopp revealed that Gomez might require surgery on his ankle injury.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has begun light training, but is still quite far from returning to the first team fold.
James Milner is back after serving his suspension, and is expected to start in a makeshift right-back position.
Predicted Liverpool Lineup
Defence
Joel Matip and Virgil van Dijk started against Leicester and could once again feature at the heart of the defence. The two should have defender Leicester’s equaliser much better and will need to be wary of Andy Carroll’s aerial threat come Monday.
Milner and Andy Robertson should feature in the full-back roles. Milner had a tough outing against Wilfried Zaha in his last Premier League game, and might have another difficult task against Felipe Anderson.
Alisson made a top save against Leicester, and should keep his place in goal.
Midfield
Fabinho and Gini Wijnaldum might get the nod to start in front of the defence. Fabinho will have to keep a close eye on his compatriot Anderson and protect Milner.
Naby Keita had a pretty impressive outing against Leicester before he was take off, and the former RB Leipzig man is expected to get another start in a slightly advanced midfield role.
Attack
Mohamed Salah was shut out by Leicester in the centre-forward role and perhaps needs to be used in his natural role on the right wing.
Roberto Firmino should start in up front, while Sadio Mane, who looked good against Leicester, should keep his place on the left.
