With the contest for supremacy in the competition heating up, a few brilliant performances were on show from the biggest stars of the Premier League in Matchweek 26.
While Sergio Aguero scored a hat-trick to decimate Chelsea and help Manchester City go top of the league table, Mohamed Salah was also on fire against Bournemouth. Paul Pogba notched up another brace to take his goal tally to eleven this season, while Heung Min Son kept his goalscoring form intact against Leicester City to bag three very valuable points for Tottenham Hotspur.
Here are the three top players who made the matchweek 26 a treat to watch with their stellar performances.
#3 Heung Min Son
The South Korean international has been in absolutely blistering form this calendar year and he scored another brilliant solo goal against Leicester City to help Spurs bag three very valuable points. With the 3-1 win over the Foxes, the north London club are now third in the league table and are looking to keep up with Manchester City and Liverpool in the race to win the Premier League title.
#2 Paul Pogba
Another brilliant performance from the Manchester United ace saw his side bag all three points in the match against relegation candidates Fulham. The French midfielder scored a brace, which takes his goal tally to 11. This is also the highest number of goals scored by the midfield maverick in a single season so far in his career.
The win against the Cottagers helped the Red Devils go fourth in the league table. And they were aided by their fierce Manchester rivals who decimated Chelsea 6-0 thus effectively ensuring United remained in the top 4. Now Ole’s team are favourites to pip both Chelsea and Arsenal to a Champions League place despite their 0-2 defeat against PSG yesterday.
#1 Sergio Aguero
Another matchweek, another hat-trick. Not many players would dream of scoring two hat-tricks in the Premier League in a span of a week, that too against two of the biggest sides in the competition. After decimating Arsenal in the 25th matchweek of the season, it was Chelsea’s turn to face his wrath as the Argentine striker picked up his third hat-trick of the season.
This win is even more significant for the Citizens as it takes them to the top of the table, pushing Liverpool down to the second position.
Next up for Liverpool are Manchester United and in what has turned out to be a paradoxical situation, City fans will be backing their neighbours with their full might.
