According to a report by Sky Sports, Southampton are ready to sell out of favour forward Manolo Gabbiadini this month.
The Saints are in talks with AC Milan, Real Betis and Fiorentina and it is believed that Gabbiadini is weighing up his options.
Southampton have struggled to find the back of the net this season, having scored just 21 goals in their 21 league outings and need an overhaul up front to retain their top-flight status or even finish higher up the table.
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side are currently eighteenth in the Premier League table with 16 points and need to sign another centre-forward if Gabbiadini leaves.
Here are three players Southampton should target in the ongoing transfer window.
#1 Odion Ighalo
Former Watford striker Odion Ighalo is Southampton’s radar, it has been claimed by Nigerian outlet The Nation.
Currently on the books of Changchun Yatai, Ighalo is believed to be keen to leave his current club following their relegation from the Chinese Super League.
The 29-year-old scored 21 league goals in 28 appearances for the club during the previous campaign, but his herculean efforts were not adequate to keep them up.
Ighalo does have the experience of playing in the Premier League and would be a decent back-up option.
#2 Davie Selke
Hertha Berlin striker Davie Selke plied his trade under the tutelage of Hasenhuttl at RB Leipzig and he could be the solution to Southampton’s attacking woes.
Selke hasn’t had a good season for Hertha this season, but a reunion with Hasenhuttl might work out for the forward.
The 23-year-old has a good burst of pace and is strong enough to test the Premier League defences.
Having played in a high pressing set-up under Hasenhuttl already, he might take less time to adapt to the style.
#3 Nicolai Jorgensen
A tall centre-forward who is capable of spearheading the attacking line on his own, Jorgensen would be a smashing signing.
Aerially, the Feyenoord striker is a dominating presence and is a pretty good poacher inside the box.
He holds the ball well up front, and his style suits the Premier League, so he would be a safe bet for Southampton.
