Fred Returns: Predicted 4-3-3 Manchester United Lineup vs Huddersfield

Manchester United‘s new caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer started his tenure in the best way possible, after securing an emphatic win over Cardiff City last weekend.

The Norwegian will hope to pick up a win in his first home game as the manager when Manchester United take on Huddersfield Town at Old Trafford.

Manchester United team news

The club confirmed that they don’t have any fresh injuries ahead of their clash against Huddersfield. However, Alexis Sanchez is still recovering from his hamstring injury while the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Chris Smalling, Marcos Rojo and Scott McTominay are all doubtful.

Predicted Manchester United lineup vs Huddersfield Town

Defence

Solskjaer is unlikely to make any defensive changes to the side despite conceding a goal against Cardiff. Therefore, we can expect Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof start in central defence while Phil Jones will remain on the bench.

Lindelof has played a crucial role for the Red Devils this season, having made more clearances than any other player in the team. And his presence in the backline alongside Bailly will be important in dealing with a sharp Huddersfield attack.

Ashley Young leads the team in terms of interceptions and his excellent intuition could be useful in the right-back position while Luke Shaw is expected to retain his place on the opposite flank.

David de Gea will start in between the sticks as he searches for his third clean sheet of the season.

Midfield

Solskjaer has hinted that he could give players the opportunity to shine and considering United’s hectic schedule in the coming weeks, we could expect the Norwegian to make some alterations in midfield this week.

Fred appeared as a substitute against Cardiff but could be given the starting berth in this one as he starts at the base of United’s 4-3-3 alongside Paul Pogba and Marouane Fellaini, who will replace Nemanja Matic in the defensive midfield slot.

Pogba will certainly play a key role in this fixture, after securing a couple of assists against Cardiff while new signing Fred will also look to impress Solskjaer following a difficult season so far in the Premier League.

Attack

With Lukaku doubtful, Marcus Rashford will most probably lead the line for the Red Devils this week. The English international netted a goal in the win over Cardiff and will be full of confidence ahead of their clash against Huddersfield.

Rashford will be supported by the wide duo of Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard, both of who will retain their place in the starting lineup following their exploits against Cardiff.
