Tottenham Hotspur extended their unbeaten run to eleven games in all competitions thanks to a narrow 1-0 win over Burnley on Saturday.
The Lilywhites created quite a lot of clearcut openings, but couldn’t take their chances as it was looking like the game would end in a 0-0 draw. However, Christian Eriksen scored a late winner to help the side pick up the three points.
Here are the Tottenham players rated in their win over Burnley.
Hugo Lloris (6/10): Was largely untested throughout the game as Burnley found it difficult to test the Spurs defence. In fact, the Frenchman didn’t even have to make a single save as he secured yet another clean sheet.
Kieran Trippier (6.5/10): A turbulent performance from the English international, who appeared sloppy, at times, in regards to the overall accuracy of his crosses. Could have done a much better job in the build-up play as well.
Toby Alderweireld (7/10): As usual, Alderweireld played a crucial role in the build-up play, making over 100 passes with an accuracy of 90%. He also won a couple of aerial duels whilst making three clearances – making him one of Tottenham’s important players of the evening.
Ben Davies (7.5/10): After being forced into a centre-back position by Pochettino, Davies did quite well, notably making an important block to deny Chris Wood in the end. Aside from that, the former Swansea full-back adapted well and ended the contest as arguably the best Tottenham defender.
Danny Rose (7/10): He was a constant threat on the left side but much like Trippier, Rose lacked incision with his crosses as they hardly seemed to trouble the resilient Burnley defence.
Moussa Sissoko (7.5/10): Definitely deserves credit for yet another impressive display. His hard-working mentality made sure that the Lilywhites kept fighting till the final whistle.
Oliver Skipp (7.5/10): It was an impressive starting debut for Oliver Skipp, who appeared confident on the ball and provided decent support to Sissoko in midfield. He attempted 54 passes with an accuracy of 85% and it will be interesting to see how Pochettino utilises him in the coming weeks.
Erik Lamela (7.5/10): A wasteful evening for the Argentine international, who wasn’t assertive in the final third. However, credit should also be given to the Burnley defenders, who allowed him very little time on the ball.
Dele Alli (6.5/10): Struggled to create anything of note from the number ten role, often being isolated by a hoard of Burnley defenders. Attempted a couple of tame shots, which was a clear sign of frustration.
Lucas Moura (7/10): His lack of end-product was frustrating as the Brazilian failed to make use of Lamela’s excellent through ball. While his link-up play was excellent, Pochettino will definitely expect better output in front of goal from the former PSG star.
Harry Kane (7.5/10): Put in a decent shift despite being hurried and hassled by the Burnley defenders throughout the game. His through ball to set free Sissoko was excellent while he also tried his own luck a couple of times but to no avail.
Substitutions
Christian Eriksen (8/10): Made an impact after replacing Lucas Moura just after the hour mark as his late strike helped his side collect all three points.
Son Heung-Min (NA): Replaced the young Oliver Skipp in the 75th minute as Pochettino opted for more firepower in search for the winning goal.
Fernando Llorente (NA): An 82nd-minute replacement for Erik Lamela.
