According to Transfermarketweb, Everton could make a move for Gabriel Barbosa in the upcoming transfer window.
The Toffees are looking to add more strength to their attack as Cenk Tosun has failed to justify his price tag after his move to Merseyside.
As a result, they are ready to make a move for Gabigol, who was once regarded as the future of Brazilian football. But, is he worth a gamble?
Gabriel Barbosa: Player profile
Gabriel is mostly known for his technical prowess in the final third, which makes up for his lack of pace. He is a versatile player who can play anywhere across the final third but is most effective when deployed as the main striker.
As you would expect from a Brazilian, Gabriel has good ability on the ball, which allows him to take neat touches as well as wriggle his way around even in tight spaces. His technical prowess and vision help him create chances for his team while linking up with his teammates in the final third.
What makes him such a talented striker, however, is his potency in front of goal. Although Gabriel may not be the tallest attacker in the world, standing in at just 176 cms, he is difficult to shrug off the ball – qualities that are ideal for one to thrive in the Premier League.
Should Everton pursue Gabriel Barbosa?
Gabigol has already netted 13 goals in 24 league matches during his loan spell, which indicates that the poor spell with Inter is behind him. Therefore, it is only natural to think that the Brazilian may turn out to be an excellent piece of business for Everton, especially given their lack of depth in the attacking department.
That being said, Gabriel is yet to prove himself in Europe, which is a big shortcoming and something that will surely raise questions as to whether or not will he be able to adjust to life in the faster-paced English football.
Despite showing immense potential in his native Brazil, Gabriel certainly needs to prove himself in Europe. For the time being, his acquisition will be nothing short of a gamble from Everton’s perspective.
