According to Tuttomercato(via Talksport), Chelsea are planning a shock move for former Premier League flop Suso. The current AC Milan superstar reportedly has a €38m release clause embedded in his contract although the Rossoneri are keen to get rid of it by offering him a contract extension before the January transfer window opens.
The source claims that Chelsea could face stiff competition from Atletico Madrid, who are also keen on the services of the Spanish winger. But, will he turn out to be a good investment for the Blues?
Suso: player profile and stats
Suso is best known for his short stint at Liverpool, where he played only 21 matches before being shipped off to AC Milan in 2015. And following a steady start to his career at Milan, Suso has become one of the most highly rated wingers in the Serie A, having played a vital role for the club in the past couple of years.
This season, however, Suso has been performing at a whole new level, being involved in ten goals in ten matches so far. He is leading the assists chart this season, having mustered seven assists while his tally of 29 key passes is only bettered by Juventus superstar Miralem Pjanic(32).
Furthermore, Suso has also accumulated over two dribbles per game along with a whopping average of almost four shots per game, which is indicative of the goalscoring threat he possesses. But, it’s his proficiency of creating chances which makes him such an appealing target.
Despite being a winger, Suso often tends to cut inside and is gifted with excellent vision, which enables him to make clever through balls as well as long passes. His crossing is also quite effective, thus making him a suitable player in the Premier League.
Why should Chelsea sign Suso?
Suso could prove to be an excellent investment for Chelsea in every aspect. The Spaniard is extremely versatile as he can play anywhere across the attack and even in midfield.
His unique style of play focuses on creating opportunities in the final third as well as linking up with teammates rather than just bombarding the flanks and providing a flurry of crosses, thus providing an extra dimension in the attack.
Also, his technical proficiency also tunes well with Maurizio Sarri’s intensive gameplay, meaning he would find minimal difficulty integrating into Chelsea’s tactics.
Furthermore, at the age of 24, Suso can prove to be an asset for Chelsea for the coming years, and the fact that he’ll available for less than €40 million makes him an appealing target for the Blues.
