Liverpool will resume their Champions League campaign when they take on Red Star Belgrade away from home on Tuesday.
The Reds are well-placed in Group C of the European competition and a win could put more pressure on PSG and Napoli as the two teams will face Liverpool on the final two matchdays of the group phase.
Jurgen Klopp’s side emerged as comfortable winners when they faced Red Star Belgrade at Anfield but a clash away from home could be trickier as Belgrade held Napoli at home and put in a resolute display.
Liverpool were held in their last Premier League game and dropped to third in the league table, so they will look to get back to winning ways.
Liverpool Team News
Xherdan Shaqiri will miss the clash as Klopp anticipates he is likely to receive a bad reception due to political reasons.
“We have heard and read the speculation and talk about what kind of reception Shaq would receive and although we have no idea what would happen, we want to go there and be focused 100 per cent on football and not have to think about anything else, that’s all,” Klopp to the press before the game.
Dejan Lovren and Naby Keita have made the travelling party and the former is in line to start while the latter could get a few minutes off the bench in the second half.
The game comes too early for Jordan Henderson who is still not match-fit.
Predicted Liverpool Lineup
Defence
We could see one change in the back four with Dejan Lovren coming in for Joe Gomez. Rotation will be important for the Reds this season and Lovren has impressed in the few games he had played so far this season.
Virgil van Dijk is likely to line up alongside Lovren at the back. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson should once again feature as the two wing-backs.
Alisson made the mistake that results in Arsenal’s equaliser on Saturday and he will want to make amends with a clean display against Belgrade, if he is called into action that is.
Midfield
Fabinho had a tough outing against Arsenal but the more he plays, the better he will get in the Liverpool system. Gini Wijnaldum and Adam Lallana are expected to complete the midfield three.
Attack
Klopp should stick to the front three of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, and Mohamed Salah.
Mane – Firmino – Salah
Lallana – Fabinho – Wijnaldum
Robertson – van Dijk – Lovren – TAA
