Leeds United suffered a 2-1 defeat to Blackburn Rovers in their last Championship fixture and Marcelo Bielsa’s side need to regroup. The Whites will host Ipswich Town at Elland Road tomorrow and it’ll be the perfect opportunity to regain the lost momentum. Ipswich have struggled this season and any result other than a Leeds win would be a surprise.
Leeds United Team News
Jack Harrison is unlikely to feature owing to his thigh injury and long-term injuries will force the duo of Patrick Bamford and Izzy Brown to sit out as well. Summer signing Barry Douglas has been ruled out until October and he will be a major absentee for the Yorkshire-based outfit.
Predicted Leeds United Lineup (4-1-4-1)
Defence
Bailey Peacock-Farrell did a good job between the sticks despite his side losing the game against Blackburn Rovers. He has been used regularly and is expected to start once again.
Pontus Jansson and Liam Cooper should keep their place at the heart of the defence. After 10 games in the league, Jansson has managed to muster two tackles, 2.6 interceptions and 5.7 clearances per game on an average.
With Douglas set to miss out, we expect Gaetano Berardi to start as the left-back. Luke Ayling was suspended for the clash against Blackburn and is set to make his return as the right-back.
Midfield
Kalvin Phillips has emerged as an important player for the Peacocks this season and he is likely to continue in the central defensive midfield position.
Meanwhile, Samuel Saiz and Mateusz Klich should keep their place as the more attack-minded midfielders. Klich has netted five goals and has picked up three assists so far this season.
Attack
Kemar Roofe will be desperate to find the back of the net against the Tractor Boys. He returned to action following a near two-month layoff and will take a few games to get back to where he was. An outing against a leaky Ipswich defence is perhaps the ideal game for Roofe to find a bit of rhythm once again.
In 13 appearances, Ezgjan Alioski has scored three goals and bagged three assists. However, his recent performances have not been very appealing. Nonetheless, he is expected to start on the left-wing with Pablo Hernandez set to feature on the right-wing.
