Very Few Positives: Everton Player Ratings vs West Ham United

Marco Silva will be perplexed after his Everton side put in a disastrous display against West Ham United this Sunday. Playing at Goodison Park, it was West Ham who were quick off the blocks and took a two-goal lead in the first half, thanks to a brace from Andriy Yarmolenko.

The hosts managed to pull one back through Gylfi Sigurdsson but the third goal by Marko Arnautović killed the game.

Here are the Everton player ratings:

Jordan Pickford (4)

Made just one save all game and his distribution was out of sorts all game, leaving Everton under pressure constantly.

Jonjoe Kenny (7)

With three tackles and two interceptions, the youngster was one of the best at the back.

Mason Holgate (4)

Failed to show any command in his box and was found out of position far too often. Was at fault for two of the three goals and needs to improve his game quickly.

Kurt Zouma (4)

Like his partner, Zouma failed to keep up with the likes of Arnautovic and Yarmolenko and left far too much space inside the Everton box.

Lucas Digne (6.5)

Had a number of bright ideas for a pass but failed to execute most of them. He did make seven tackles and two interceptions, but they were not enough to get his side back into the game.

Morgan Schneiderlin (4)

The Frenchman added nothing to the midfield, as he left his backline exposed. Was withdrawn just minutes before the break.

Idrissa Gueye (4)

Gifted the ball to West Ham in dangerous areas and did nothing to help his side find a foothold in the game.

Gylfi Sigurdsson (5)

Started the game slowly but was one of the brightest attackers for Everton, creating a few half chances. Needs more consistent displays like these to get back to his best.

Theo Walcott (5)

His pace was a problem for the West Ham backline in the first half but he slowly faded away and had to be taken off.

Cenk Tosun (4)

Had a couple of easy chances to score but missed. His hold-up play was pretty bad and he needs to improve in the coming weeks.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin (5)

Wasn’t provided with enough service as he failed to have any kind of an impact in the final third.

Substitutes

Bernard (6)

His urgency is what gave Everton some hope. But he didn’t spend enough time on the pitch to get his team back on level terms.

Oumar Niasse (5)

Should have scored with his chance late in the game, but was otherwise relatively ineffective.
