Tottenham Hotspur’s winning run in the Premier League ended yesterday after their 2-1 defeat at the hands of Watford. Their loss came after their wins in all of their first three league fixtures, which were against Newcastle United, Fulham and Manchester United.
Spurs were hosted at the Vicarage Road by the Hornets and were leading the game through an own goal conceded by Abdoulaye Doucoure. However, Javi Gracia’s men carved a stupendous comeback as Troy Deeney and Craig Cathcart’s goal earned them all three points.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men, who are due to lock horns with Liverpool after the international break, has demanded more from his players to make a serious surge for the Premier League title. However, he has taken full responsibility for his side’s loss against Watford.
Speaking to the press after the game, Pochettino said: “I am very disappointed, very disappointed because if you want to be a contender, first I am the first person guilty of everything. We conceded two goals that if you want to be a contender you cannot concede. It is the beginning and it is a very good wake-up call for everyone.”
