Chelsea’s new manager Maurizio Sarri has preferred a three-man midfield and has mostly opted the trio of Jorginho, Mateo Kovacic and N’Golo Kane. Besides, he has some genuinely decent options in Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Ross Barkley to provide cover.
With an already congested midfield, it would be an uphill task for midfielder Cesc Fabregas to break into Sarri’s starting XI on a regular basis this season. The Spaniard hasn’t played even a single game this season as he has been ruled out through an injury.
Fabregas’ contractual relationship with the London based outfit is due to expire at the end of the season and there hasn’t been any talk of an extension. Owing to the huge amount of competition in the midfield sector at Chelsea, the 31-year-old’s days at the Stamford Bridge seem to be heavily numbered.
As per one of the latest reports by Daily Star, Serie A giants Inter Milan and AC Milan are are keeping close tabs on Fabregas. They are reportedly willing to offer him an escape route and considering that both the clubs are interested to bolster their midfield, they see Fabregas as an ideal candidate to meet their needs.
