As per one of the latest reports by Express, Manchester United are keeping close tabs on Arsenal attacking midfielder Mesut Ozil. Jose Mourinho, who monitored him closely last season, is apparently interested to make him sign on the dotted line to beef up the creativity of his side in the final third.
Recently, Arsenal manager Unai Emery had asked Ozil to justify his £350,000-a-week wages. Emery wants his side’s highest-paid player, who has two-and-a-half-years left on his current deal with the north London based outfit, to contribute more in terms of goals and assists.
Mourinho managed to make just three signings during the summer transfer window, with Diogo Dalot, Fred and Lee Grant moving to the Old Trafford. The former Chelsea manager was keen on churning more deals but was not backed up properly by the board during the transfer window.
Ozil is unarguably a household name but he hasn’t really lived up to his standards so far this term. Although he found the back of the net against Newcastle United during his side’s 2-1 win at St. James’ Park on Saturday, he has to upgrade his game considerably to ensure that the Gunners make a serious surge for the Premier League title.
