As per one of the latest reports by The Sportsman, Chelsea have moved to the pole position to sign Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey in the January transfer window. Besides, reports have emerged stating that a move to the Stamford Bridge is the dream destination for Bailey.
The likes of Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are also believed to be in the race to make him sign on the dotted line, but Chelsea do have the upper hand. The Jamaican started his senior career with Belgian outfit Genk before he joined Bayer Leverkusen in the January transfer window of 2017.
Bailey carved an eye-catchy season in the German top-flight last term as he plundered 9 goals and garnered 6 assists in 30 appearances. Although the 21-year-old signed a new contract with his current club over the summer, it does not have a release clause inked on it.
Maurizio Sarri has carved a brilliant start to his life at Chelsea as he has won all of his first four games in the Premier League so far this season. Signing a promising young gun like Bailey could cultivate substantial dividends in the second-half of the season and no wonder why the Blues are pursuing him.
