Leeds United, still unbeaten in Championship, will resume their campaign this Saturday following the international break. The Whites will be up against Millwall in a difficult away encounter.
Marcelo Bielsa has a mini injury crisis to deal with but will be keen on his side maintaining their impressive run so far.
Leeds United Team News
Adam Forshaw is not far from a first-team return but needs to rebuild his fitness with the u23 squad. Veteran Pablo Hernandez is also unavailable due to a thigh injury suffered in the side’s emphatic 3-0 win over Norwich City.
Gaetano Berardi is out for weeks having suffered a knee strain. Patrick Bamford, the summer recruit from Boro, will be sidelined for four months after damaging his posterior cruciate ligament. Kemar Roofe also picked up a knock and is unlikely to feature.
Predicted Leeds United Lineup (4-1-4-1)
Defence
Bailey Peacock-Farrell, the young custodian, has made significant strides in the past few months and made his competitive debut for Northern Ireland against Bosnia and Herzegovina in the recent UEFA Nations League fixture. The youngster could not prevent his country from losing 2-1 but has been doing well for his club and will start this weekend.
The injury to Berardi will see Pontus Jansson pairing up with skipper Liam Cooper in central defence. Luke Ayling has been pretty reliable in the right-back role and should start once again.
Ayling has mustered 2.7 tackles a game this season, the most by any Leeds defender. Barry Douglas could start on the opposite flank and the Scotsman has been equally impressive in his role.
Midfield
Kalvin Phillips has done well in his role on playing as the number 6. He has managed more interceptions (2.2) than every other Leeds midfielder, showing his importance to the team.
Mateusz Klich has been mighty impressive and even scored for Poland a few days earlier. He already has three goals for the team this season and will be partnering Samuel Saiz in central midfield. Saiz has managed 2.3 dribbles per game and Leeds will rely on his ability to thread a pass. He has 1.2 key passes a game.
Hernandez’s absence will provide young Jack Harrison with another opportunity to start on the right wing. Ezgjan Alioski has been steady so far from the opposite flank and has scored as well as assisted twice each in six league outings.
Attack
With both Roofe and Bamford out with injuries, Bielsa revealed that he will give young Tyler Roberts a chance to impress. The Welshman played in the EFL Cup and his pace and energy will be something to look out for.
