According to Sky Sports, Premier League club, Tottenham Hotspur has tabled a £25m bid for Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish.
Spurs have been interested to sign the 22-year old in this summer window but failed to reach any decisive deal. Aston Villa has resisted the temptation to sell their star-player for a hefty fee but it looks like Tottenham are too eager to get this deal over the line this time.
He started in Aston Villa’s first Championship game of this season and even earned an assist. He was given a standing ovation from the club’s fans when he was substituted at the 83rd minute. They know that Jack Grealish is a quality attacker and has all the attributes to develop into a world-class player.
At which position does he play?
Jack Grealish is an attacking midfielder but can also be deployed on the wings. At Aston Villa, he plays just behind the striker as a number 10.
He is a strong dribbler of the ball who likes to breeze forward. Last season in the championship he scored three goals and registered six assists in 22 matches.
Can he break into the starting XI for Spurs?
No. Spurs like to set up in a 4-2-3-1 formation and all the four attacking positions are already taken.
Tottenham has an abundance of quality in their first team, especially at the positions the young lad prefers to play. Dele Alli has emerged as a majestic attacking midfielder at Spurs under the leadership of Mauricio Pochettino. He will get the nod ahead of Jack Grealish to play as a number 10.
Christian Eriksen is one of the best midfielders in the World and there is no chance that Grealish would replace him. Left-wing is a spot where he can get the game-time but Son Heung-min has done enough to earn the faith of his manager. He had a sumptuous season where he scored 12 goals and made 6 assists, putting his case to get the starting berth.
Érik Lamela is another player who is waiting to get into the team after an injury-hit season. He remains a key player for Tottenham if he is able to stay fit. Jack Grealish has to be patient to earn a starting place in the team as he wishes to return back in the Premier League.
