Roberto Soldado
Roberto Soldado was one of the most prolific strikers in Spain scoring 59 goals in 101 appearances for Spanish Club Valencia. He was bought for a club record fee at that time for £26m. He was expected to be Spurs’ go-to man after the departure of Gareth Bale in 2013 to Real Madrid. But Soldado failed to match these expectations as he struggled to adapt to the Premier League. Goals dried up as the Spanish striker netted only 7 times in 52 appearances. Later, he was sold to Villareal in 2015 after a dismal two-season stay at Spurs.
Moussa Sissoko
On 31st August 2016, Tottenham signed Moussa Sissoko from Newcastle United in a deal believed to be worth £30m. Sissoko is a classic box to box midfielder known for his driving runs through midfield. Many expected the Frenchman to provide the energy and intensity in the middle of the park. However, injuries have stalled his progress and he has not looked like his former self in a Spurs shirt. He made 33 appearances last year scoring a solitary goal and notching up just 1 assist.
Davinson Sanchez
On 18 August 2017, Tottenham Hotspur made a club record, signing Davidson Sanchez for £42m from Ajax. Sanchez is an athletic centre-half who is dominant in the air. The young centre-back is good on the ball and has adapted seamlessly to the Premier League. He has good positional sense and is a fine tackler. The 21-year-old has the potential to be the best defender in the world and his mammoth fee already looks like a bargain.
