Transfer News:
In an astonishing turn of events, the football betting market in England has undergone a significant upturn since yesterday. Paddy Power and Betfair, who are England’s bookmaker giants have reported that a huge chunk of cash has been placed on Harry Kane moving to Manchester United.
Kane, 25, has undoubtedly been England’s most prolific forward in the past couple of years. His stunning development at Tottenham Hotspur has seen him becoming probably the best number 9 in the world.
Kane’s calm-headedness, dedication towards the game and a commendable mental strength resulted in him becoming the captain of the England national team. Kane led them in the World Cup and was the top-scorer with six goals in the tournament.
He lost out in the battle for the Golden Boot to Mohammed Salah last season in the Premier League but still scored 30 goals in 37 matches. Kane’s consistency and sheer goal-scoring prowess has played a huge role in Spurs’ meteoric development under the tutelage of Mauricio Pochettino.
His tendency to score goals at any given opportunity is due to an astute finishing technique. Kane’s accuracy and the ability to pop up in the right place at the right time means that he is always in a position to notch a goal or two.
He might lack a certain dynamism in his play, as he is not the most comfortable while running at defenders. However, the 25-year-old represents an old-school brand of strikers, as his sole responsibility is to finish off chances and keep things simple in the penalty box under pressure.
Kane has added certain new aspects to his game and he now drops down a notch to orchestrate the attacking play and distributes the ball to the wings well.
He is a smart runner off the ball and is aerially dominant. Kane often bullies the defenders during set pieces and displays strong hold-up play as well as aerial strength while heading in goals during corners or free kicks.
It wouldn’t be incorrect to remark that Kane is probably the best striker in the world currently. Reports of a move to Manchester United though come as a massive shock.
United might be in the market for an attacker but it would essentially be a right-winger as that is the area which needs to be addressed.
United already have Romelu Lukaku on their roster and they have players like Alexis Sanchez, Marcus Rashford, and Anthony Martial to play as the striker. They might not sign Kane unless there is a huge mix-up in the squad, something that looks unlikely right now.
However, the sudden slash in odds is quite interesting, undoubtedly.
