Manchester United have received a huge boost in their pursuit of Ante Rebic according to two separate reports emerging in the past few days. The Croatian forward has attracted a lot of interest following his performances in the recently concluded FIFA World Cup and a big-money move could be on the horizon this summer.
United have been one of the clubs linked with a move for the Eintracht Frankfurt star but their interest was believed to have cooled after being repeatedly rebuffed in their attempts to sign the highly rated attacker.
However, as per Italian news source Tuttosport, the Red Devils have launched a bid of €50 million in order to tempt the Bundesliga outfit to sell their prized forward this summer.
In another report, German sports magazine SportBild, claims Eintracht are already preparing for life without Rebic next season, having targeted Sporting Lisbon star Francisco Geraldes as his desired replacement.
It is believed that the 23-year-old could soon join his compatriot Goncalo Paciencia at Frankfurt next season, thus, paving the way for United to make a move for Rebic.
Highly regarded as one of the most improved Croatian footballers in the past 12 months, Ante Rebic initially made an impact in the Bundesliga last season, after joining from Fiorentina in a permanent move worth €2 million.
The 24-year-old played a crucial role for Die Adler last term, scoring six goals and providing nine assists, as they finished the season in the top half of the table.
However, it was in the 2018 World Cup campaign, where Rebic showcased his brilliance in front of the world as he scored the opener in Croatia’s hugely impressive 3:1 win over Argentina. He went on to play a key role for his country as Croatia reached all the way to the final, only to be beaten by France.
As for Manchester United, his addition to the club could be a massive boost for the Premier League giants. A robust attacker blessed with pace and power, the 24-year-old is a unique component in the final third, who is actually stronger than most of the modern day defenders.
What also makes him such an appealing target is the fact that he is very good during counter-attacks, which fits in well with Jose Mourinho’s tactical philosophy. Thus, he could add another dimension to the United attack and with the brilliance of Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku alongside him, the Red Devils could transform into an attacking powerhouse.
