Liverpool have received a huge boost in the chase for Ajax superstar Hakim Ziyech. The Eredivisie giants have consigned to losing the 25-year-old after admitting an agreement over his departure has already been reached.
In fact, Ajax manager Erik ten Haag has reportedly told Voetball that Ziyech has even agreed on a move to an unnamed club.
‘I know he already has another deal elsewhere,” Ten Hag told Voetbal International. ‘I would have liked to keep him, but the agreements between him and the club are there.”
“The only thing I can do is wish him good luck at his new club. ‘[I will miss him] first of all as a person, because he is a really nice boy to work with. And, of course, also as a player.” = he added.
This could be a huge boost for Liverpool, who have been courting interest in Hakim Ziyech for a long time now. And following the transfer breakdown of Lyon’s star player Nabil Fekir, chances are likely that the Reds will have no hesitation in settling for Ziyech this summer.
After an impressive season, the Merseyside giants are keen to strengthen their squad for next season. In fact, they have already secured the signings of world class midfielders in the shape of Naby Keita and Fabinho, both of whom are expected to provide top-notch service in the central and holding midfield positions respectively.
However, that being said, it’s the creative department, where the main problems could originate for Liverpool next season. Following the departure of Philipe Coutinho earlier this year, the Reds have failed to find a suitable player in that position with the likes of Adam Lallana and Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain struggling to impose themselves as an attacking midfielder.
Thus, the addition of a top-class attacking midfielder is more than necessary for Liverpool as they look to build a side that is capable of maintaining a title tilt next season. And Ziyech, in that regard, could be an ideal acquisition considering the fact that the Ajax ace has the dynamism and intelligence to thrive under the tactical philosophy of Jurgen Klopp. Blessed with excellent dribbling skills which is coupled with his box of trickery, Ziyech is a clever operator in the final third who can not only work his way through the defence but is also quite versatile in the attacking department., making him an ideal fit for Liverpool.
Having said that, however, Liverpool could face stiff competition with arch-rivals Everton also vying for his services this summer. In addition, Roma are already preparing a €35m bid for the Moroccan international, as per reports from Calciomercato.
