Manchester United forward Anthony Martial who has appeared on Chelsea’s radar lately has featured heavily in the transfer-talk this summer window. The Frenchman had joined Manchester United for a fee of €36.5 million from AS Monaco in 2015.
Martial, who has been a primary target for many clubs like Tottenham Hotspur, Bayern Munich and Chelsea is currently valued at €100 million by his club Manchester United.
Anthony Martial, who has played a key part in the short term success at the club is currently thinking about his future and is looking for a move away from the Manchester club.
The 22-year old has won the FA Cup, Carabao Cup and the Europa League in his 3-year stay with the Red Devils. Martial, who is a left-winger, has been one of the few key players in the United dressing room in recent times, having scored 24 goals in 86 appearances for the club.
The French forward is one of the top talents in the current golden generation of French Football. His pace which is a key aspect of his game and his on and off the ball movement helps the team initiate a fast paced counter attack against the opposition. His trickery and direct approach in the final third also result in goals and a respectable number of assists.
Chelsea are on the lookout for an attacker if they are forced into selling their star man Eden Hazard to Real Madrid. The Madrid-based club is looking for a top-class attacker following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus. The club is currently preparing for the season ahead in the United States, though the board will be working overtime behind the scenes to take appropriate measures in trying to fill the massive sized shoes the Portuguese attacker has left behind.
Regarding Martial, at a recent interview, Jose Mourinho has confirmed that he and club chairman Ed Woodward are looking to start discussions with the player and his agent and look to either seal a move to another club or award the player a new long-term contract at the club.
Jose Mourinho has said that he wants the player to stay at the club for a long time as he sees a future for him in the team.
While Chelsea and Manchester United have taken part in transfer deals quite frequently in the recent past, whether United actually let someone like Martial join the Stamford Bridge outfit remains to be seen.
