Arsenal are apparently among the clubs interested in the services of PSG starlet Adrien Rabiot, according to reports. The highly-rated French midfielder, who is also courted by a host of other top clubs around Europe including Juventus, Tottenham Hotspur and Napoli, is tipped to leave PSG this summer.
Adrien Rabiot’s current contract with the club expires at the end of next season. In addition, the former Toulouse midfielder has also reportedly turned down a contract extension, leading many to believe that he’s destined to depart from Parc des Princes in the ongoing transfer window.
Therefore, the 23-year-old is expected to undergo a busy transfer window, especially with a host of top clubs already vying for his signature. Arsenal, in particular, have shown a keen interest in the services of the Frenchman.
The North London giants already announced the departure of legendary head coach Arsene Wenger, at the end of the season, meaning they will likely go through a massive squad overhaul this summer as they prepare for life without Wenger.
The addition of Adrien Rabiot, in that regard, could be a stunning move from Arsenal’s point of view. The Gunners were left out with a massive hole in their midfield department following the departure of Francis Coquelin earlier this year. The frequent injury absences of star midfielder Santi Cazorla haven’t helped either while Jack Wilshere is also linked with a move out of Emirates.
Therefore, the Gunners are in dire need of some midfield reinforcements this summer, if they are to get back among the English elites next season and the acquisition of highly talented Rabiot could be an ideal move for the Premier League giants.
Known for his immense ability to dictate the tempo of the game, Rabiot is tailor-made for a team like Arsenal. The 23-year-old is blessed with great vision and tip-top passing, which allows him to influence the game from the middle third. However, it’s his defensive capability which will bring an added element into this Gunners midfield.
In addition, the French midfielder will also have the opportunity to reunite with his former coach Unai Emery, who was earlier announced as the man to replace Arsene Wenger next season.
Despite his obvious talent, Rabiot has often struggled with game-time throughout his career with PSG but thanks to the Spaniard, the Frenchman became much more than just a benchwarmer and Arsenal will be hoping that this connection between the player and the coach helps Rabiot to make a move to England this summer.
