Arsenal interested in the services of former Gladbach manager: The perfect man to replace Wenger?

Following a disappointing last couple of seasons at the helm, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is almost destined to be sacked by the club at the end of this season.

The Frenchman, after missing out on Champions League last season, is certain to fail in guiding Arsenal to the top-four places this campaign. Currently dawdling at sixth position in the league table, the Gunners will once again have to be content with Europa League next season unless they manage to win the same competition this year. But failure to do so might ultimately end this glorious long-standing partnership.

In fact, the Gunners have already started looking for replacements with the likes of Thomas Tuchel, Mikel Arteta topping the list of possible candidates for Arsenal. However, according to recent reports, Nice manager Lucien Favre has emerged as the latest candidate to replace Arsene Wenger at Arsenal next season.

The former Gladbach boss, who was chased by Borussia Dortmund at the start of this season, in order to replace Thomas Tuchel, has been one of the most successful coaches in France in the past few years.

After replacing the departing Claude Puel at the start of the 2016/17 season, the Swiss head coach has found astounding success in the French top flight. In his first season with the club, Favre guided Nice to an impressive third-place finish in the league.

Even though Nice’s performance this season haven’t been as impressive as the last one, the Les Aiglons are still competing for a place in the Europa League, which is certainly a remarkable achievement by the Swiss mastermind.

Arsenal, on the other hand, are in desperate need of a change of managers and Lucien Favre might prove to be an excellent replacement for the long-serving Arsene Wenger. The North-London giants, in recent years, have somehow lacked any sort of identity, which has coincided with their downfall under Wenger.

However, with Lucien Favre at the helm, the Gunners won’t have any problem when it comes to having a distinguished philosophy. The 60-year-old is known for his bold style of play, which is coupled with his aggressive attitude. Though not exactly the conservative type of coach, the former Gladbach man can certainly develop a winning mentality at Arsenal.

In addition, the Swiss head coach often focuses on the possession-based football, meaning Arsenal are unlikely to have any problem transitioning to Favre’s style of play.

However, that being said, Arsenal might face issues in signing him up, especially with the 60-year-old also being courted by German giants FC Bayern, as the desired replacement for Jupp Heynckes.
