After the appointment of Carlos Carvalhal, Swansea City have been able to engineer a lot of solidarity in their ranks. The Swans were once aimlessly stagnating in the relegation zone of the league table but the Portuguese weaved his magic after his arrival at the Liberty Stadium and his side are now placed at the 14th spot in the standings, having collected 31 points from 30 league fixtures.
If they manage to stay in the top flight next season, Carvalhal might be aiming to beef up his arsenal and the right-back is likely to be one of the areas of his concern as their first-choice right-back, Kyle Naughton, has been timorous and bereft of confidence on plenty of occasions. As per one of the latest reports by Independent, Swansea City are perceived to be leading the race to sign Yeovil Town’s right-back, Tom James, in the summer transfer window.
However, it would not be easy for them to make him sign on the dotted line as Bournemouth and Celtic have also placed him on their radar. James has been scouted by the Welsh club all season, and are believed to have been impressed by him. While he has managed to attract interest from Eddie Howe, the Celts are looking for new options to introduce competition for Mikael Lustig for the right-back slot.
James has emerged as one of the hottest properties in League Two owing to the calibre and consistency that he has shown this season. There is no denying that he has become an instrumental player for Darren Way’s side but it would be hard for Yeovil Town to hold onto their prized asset beyond the summer transfer window owing to their financial situation.
The Welshman started his youth career in the ranks of Cardiff City and was handed his first senior cap for the Bluebirds in 2014. However, he failed to cement his place and moved to Yeovil Town on a free transfer in the January transfer window of 2017. James is capable enough to play anywhere across the back four and his versatility is one of his strongest suits.
Besides, he has inked his name as a modern-day fullback who has the expertise and know-how to maintain a balance between the offensive and defensive endeavours. He would cost around £00,000 to Swansea City and given that he is a 21-year-old and has lots of time to brush himself further, signing him would be an astute and promising move by Carvalhal.
