In addition, Mesut Ozil has also left a significant impact on the German national team as well, having made almost appearances for Die-Mannschaft, during which in he has scored 22 goals and notched up 40 assists.
Although the likes of Max Meyer and Leon Goretzka have shown immense potential this season, Mesut Ozil will undoubtedly be Joachim Loew’s first choice playmaker. In fact, even Mario Goetze, who was Germany’s poster boy in the 2014 World Cup, is only regarded as a backup option for Mesut Ozil in the CAM position.
The 29-year-old has recently penned a long-term contract with Arsenal, which also ended endless speculations regarding his future. This will eventually help him focus on his performances throughout the remainder of the season.

The former Schalke prodigy has come out all guns blazing in this new campaign, scoring 12 goals and providing 13 assists. He has been a key component in Manchester City’s incredibly productive offensive lineup this season, which has netted almost 83 goals in the Premier League.
In fact, his amazing performances have caught the eye of FC Barcelona, who are reportedly eyeing him as the potential long-term successor for Lionel Messi.
It shouldn’t be too difficult for Leroy Sane to get into Germany’s squad this summer, considering the fact that the likes of Andre Schurrle, Julian Draxler are not really having great seasons while superstar Marco Reus has just returned from a long injury layoff.

#3 Emre Can – Liverpool
Last but not least, Liverpool’s Emre Can is also a potential candidate to be included in Germany’s World Cup squad this summer.
The former Bayern midfielder has been a mainstay in the Liverpool midfield for the past few years, despite the lack of balance or solidity in the Reds midfield. His impressive performances have also attracted the likes of Juventus, who are keen to sign the German International next summer, with his current Liverpool contract running out at the end of this season.
That being said, however, Emre Can only has an outside chance of making into Germany’s World Cup squad, simply because of the fact that other midfielders have been simply extraordinary. Schalke’s Leon Goretzka, for example, is a definite pick, thanks to his incredible performances in the last 12 months while Mario Goetze has also shown signs of coming back to his former self.
Therefore, in the end, it may come down to Sami Khedira, Emre Can and Max Meyer, with Khedira definitely having the upper hand.
