With the international break done and dusted, Aston Villa will be aiming to get back to winning ways in the Championship after having lost two games on the trot. Steve Bruce’s men are due to make a trip to the KCOM Stadium to face Hull City in their next league game and here are three key battles which could potentially dictate the final result of the fixture.
#3 Max Clark vs. Robert Snodgrass
Robert Snodgrass has been one of the best players for Villa this campaign, having scored seven times. He has also played a hand in 13 goals in 33 appearances in the Championship. He has been the creative force and could be the side’s biggest threat against Hull.
Snodgrass will ensure that Hull City’s left-back, Max Clark has his hands full in the upcoming fixture. Although Clark has done okay this season, dealing with the duo of Snodgrass and Ahmed Elmohamady won’t be easy.
#2 Abel Hernandez vs. John Terry
Abel Hernandez has plundered 6 goals in 6 appearances for his side so far this season and there is no denying that he has certainly been very clinical up front. He recovered from his Achilles injury but took very little time to get back into the scheme of things up front.
However, he is due to face a stubborn Aston Villa back line this weekend, which is spearheaded by former Chelsea skipper, John Terry.
Terry and James Chester have forged a strong partnership at the back and given the experience and exceptional ability that Terry possesses, Hernandez is expected to have a tough time and will have to take his chances.
#1 Harry Wilson vs. Ahmed Elmohamady
Harry Wilson has been in impressive form throughout this campaign and his creativity on the left-wing has been a handy asset for the Tigers this season. He offers pace and can put in a good cross and that is exactly what Nigel Adkins will be hoping for when they face the Villans.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa’s right-back, Elmohamady has not only been solid at the back but he has linked up well with his teammates in the final third and has contributed immensely up front. Wilson will get his chances on the counter against Elmohamdy so we could be in for an intriguing battle on the pitch.
