There have been stories going around since the start of the summer transfer window that Everton might lose their 23-year old attacking midfielder, Ross Barkley in the ongoing transfer window, with a host of clubs looking to sign him. The England international is keen on leaving the Toffees and play elsewhere, as he looks for a new challenge, as confirmed by manager Ronald Koeman.
This has put a host of clubs across England on high alert, as they look to add the attacker to their squad.
Offers have already been made for the player’s services, though a deal has not been completed yet.
Here are three top clubs that would make ideal destinations for the Englishman’s future:
#3 Arsenal
With the future of Alexis Sanchez in doubt, it could be a good chance for Barkley to make the move to north London and play for Arsenal. He is still quite young and could have a good future at the Emirates under the guidance of Arsene Wenger, who is still looking to add a few options up front.
The north London outfit have shown some interest in acquiring his services in the current transfer window and if he does decide to leave his current club, the Gunners could be one option that could be on his mind, though they will not be able to offer him Champions League football next season.
#2 Manchester United
Another option would be Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United outfit, who are also looking to splash more cash in the market for some additional reinforcements. The advantage here would be Champions League football, though one problem that Barkley might face would be the competition for places which is quite stiff at Old Trafford.
The attack-minded player will have to fight really hard, if Jose decides to fix his playing eleven and does not include him, as the Portuguese manager is not well known for squad rotation. He might not get too many chances to showcase his talent, unless he really impresses from the word go.
Mourinho’s side won two cups last season, so Barkley might have a good chance of finally winning some silverware if he moves to Old Trafford.
#1 Tottenham
Probably the club that has shown the maximum amount of interest in Barkley’s services, Spurs will look to bring him to the other half of North London this summer. Pochettino’s side have not signed a single player as of now and are chasing the attacker since the beginning of the current transfer window.
The gaffer knows that the young attacker can add more quality to his squad and will want to beat his club’s domestic rivals, as they look to sign. However, Barkley’s inconsistency can be compared to Sissoko, a player Spurs paid massive money to sign last summer and that deal might serve as a warning.
This story is far from over, as the clubs know what kind of quality the player possesses and it will be interesting to see where he eventually ends up.
