Transfer story
Liverpool have been arguably the most active side in the Premier League in search of new recruits which has seen them being linked with a number of players. The Reds have already signed Dominic Solanke from Chelsea and had a failed attempt to sign Virgil van Dijk.
Signing a winger is also high on Liverpool’s demands as the targets right from Julian Brandt to Mohammad Salah are being linked with the club. One more name has been added to this list as recent reports have suggested that Jürgen Klopp is keen on raiding his former club, Borussia Dortmund for the signature of 19-year old winger, Emre Mor.
Mor has been on the radar of Liverpool since the past summer when he joined Dortmund but the Reds missed out on the Danish-born winger. He has a contract till 2021 with the German side as Dortmund are keen to loan Mor out for a season for him to get some regular game time under his belt.
The Reds are ready to take Mor on a season-long loan deal with a clause to make the move permanent after the end of his loan term.
Player stats
Mor joined Dortmund from FC Nordsjaelland last summer but the Turkish international was criminally underused by Thomas Tuchel. He started just 5 games for Dortmund and made 19 appearances overall in the campaign.
He scored a solitary goal and also provided three assists in the season. Staying true to his playing style, Mor attempted 2.1 dribbles per 90 minutes this season which is a pretty good stat to have in your artillery.
What he’ll offer to the club?
Emre Mor is a rough diamond who can shine brightly if used correctly and under an understanding top manager. Jürgen Klopp can be that man as he has a history of chiselling young players into world class commodities.
Mor is a talented winger who likes to dribble past players at will and the open nature of the Premier League can help him. His link-up play is also pretty decent. Mor still needs to improve his strength and his work rate in terms of his defensive contribution but he is just 19 and has time on his side to turn himself into a brilliant winger.
If Mor arrives on a loan spell with an option of making the deal permanent, Dortmund will earn a huge profit on selling the youngster who arrived for a meagre sum from Denmark.
He is a right fit at Liverpool and can provide eye-catching options on the flanks in the club’s bid to challenge on all fronts. Jürgen Klopp will have to convince his former club and the player in question to sign up at Anfield as it won’t be an easy task for the Reds to lure a player who is considered one of the best for his age.
