Huddersfield Town made a sensational entry into the Premier League after winning promotion via Championship play-off and manager David Wagner looks to continue their stellar run with some quality signings in the transfer window. Recent reports claim that the Terriers are interested in signing Montpellier striker Steve Mounie.
The Benin International had endured a more than satisfactory season for the Ligue 1 side and is now apparently on the radar of several potential suitors who want to lure away the youngster from Stade De La Mosson. After receiving interests from both Leicester City and West Brom, it seems Huddersfield is in the frontline line in vying for the 22-year old’s signature.
The player has 2 more years to run at the Stade De La Mosson and is said to be valued at £11.5m by the French club at the moment which could rise to £13m.
Let’s take a look at the player’s stats in the last season and see if he’s actually worth the moolah.
Player Stats
The player is known for his solid right foot with which he often sends belters into the opponent’s net and also for his aerial presence as he is quite a threat during set pieces and long balls.
The 22-year-old had scored 15 times and assisted 3 times in 38 appearances for the club. Not bad certainly for a striker, he has the skill and vision to be a prolific goal scorer with proper supplies into the box.
The Benin International’s average of 3 shots per game is also quite admirable but the only area he needs to better himself is his passing abilities and defensive contribution to the team, both of which are seemingly absent in the youngster.

What’ll he offer the Club?
Huddersfield town would be re-surfacing in the Premier League after a long spell of 45 years and most of the youngsters are sure to lack the experience of playing in the first tier of professional football and they could very well use the skills and talent of the 22-year-old in this regard.
Moreover, with the player’s pace and physical presence in the final third, he is sure to provide the newly promoted club with umpteen number of chances up front, something that Wagner would not mind having in his squad.
Premier League is never easy for newly promoted teams and the upcoming season will not prove to be any different and Wagner will surely look to bolster his frontline to add firepower to his squad. Hence, the addition of Steve Mounie seems to be almost a no-brainer for the club.
Worth the Money?
With the potential to score 15 goals in a season and also at an age of only 22, the price tag of almost £13m is as cheap as it could get. In Premier League the difference of one goal could sometimes make a huge difference and surely having the Benin forward would not go in vain as he might turn out to be the reason for Huddersfield’s smooth Premier League sail in the upcoming season.
Certainly an investment worth taking as it may turn out to pay rich dividends for the club.
