Transfer Story
Latest reports seem to link Hellas Verona midfielder, Romulo with a possible move to the Premier League as Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez seems apparently interested in bringing the Italian to St. James Park.
The newly promoted club is all set to make an impressive comeback to the English top tier football as their Spanish boss, Rafa Benitez seems to be leaving no stone unturned in completing as many shrewd pieces of business as he can in the transfer window.
The 30-year-old midfielder had been somewhat of a key figure for the Serie B club last season and has been impressive with the ball last season. The former Fiorentina man is currently tied to his club till 2019 but a lucrative offer to move to the Premier League might be too tempting for the Italian to refuse.
Let’s see how much the player could contribute to the Magpies if a possible transfer does go through.
Player Stats
The player had featured 41 times for the Serie B club last season scoring 4 goals in the process. The veteran midfielder is still at the top of his fitness and consistency in form it seems.
The player is quite adept at taking set pieces and dribbling with the ball. Not short of creativity or vision, the player also has the ability to deliver lethal through passes and long balls in his arsenal.
The slight shortcomings of the player are his lack of aerial presence and poor physicality. (Stats via WhoScored)
What’ll he offer the club?
Too early to assume the player’s future at Magpies as he has no prior experience in English football but still he could well turn out to be the wild card at St. James Park.
Although at 30 years of age, the player would have few prime years of football left, still his passing awareness and creativity in the heart of the midfield is something that should not be underestimated.
Plus during his time at Fiorentina and Juventus, he did show his prowess with the ball at his feet and if he manages to bring the same talent to Newcastle then who knows it might just be a shrewd signing by Rafa.
The Spaniard has never deterred from making dicey investments on veteran individuals during his time at Anfield and also at Napoli and although many clicked some definitely misfired.
All said and done it’s now all on Rafa to make or break the deal.
