Manchester United are eyeing a move for Russian attacker Fyodor Chalov, it has been revealed.
After a less than impressive Premier League campaign last time around, Manchester United have been somewhat active in the transfer market, as they look to spend big on the right players who can turn their fortunes around next season.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the hierarchy have taken a different approach to the transfer season, as they have signed quite a few younger players this time.
Chalov, at 21, is one such player, and the Red Devils will have to thwart competition from the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, report the Mirror.
Considering the clubs he has been linked with, we can safely say Chalov is now one of the hottest properties in European football, and is valued at around £20m.
Fyodor Chalov and his numbers
Having started his career with CSKA Moscow as an eight-year-old, Chalov broke into the senior side as a teenager in 2016, and has been effective in front of goal ever since.
Chalov has 27 goals in 65 topflight appearances in Russia, and stepped up last season, where he scored 15 goals, and was the golden boot winner in the domestic league last season.
The 21-year old also registered seven assists to add to those goals, and was probably the most effective player in the domestic season.
Chalov also made his debut for the Russian national side earlier this year, and is now an established player waiting to take on bigger challenges in Europe.
Playing as a lone centre-forward, the 21-year old showed great finishing prowess, but what was impressive was his positioning and ball control in close quarters. He has an excellent vision, can create chances galore and at his age, will only get better playing alongside star players at a club like Manchester United.
Is Chalov the forward they need?
The Red Devils played the last campaign with Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford as their main strikers. Anthony Martial can also play in that role.
However, Solskjaer wants natural strikers who can not only push for a place in the first team but can make an immediate impact if called upon and Chalov fits the bill well.
Though not proven at the biggest stage yet, Chalov scored a couple of goals in the Champions League last season as well and certainly deserves a chance to prove himself at the top, and Manchester United could provide him with that opportunity next season.
Most other clubs in Europe want the Russian as a backup striker, but The Red Devils might have Chalov play most domestic cup games and if impressive, the youngster will also get his chances in the league.
It is evident that Solskjaer is reluctant to spend on a star striker this summer, but they need to add numbers to their attack to get through the hectic English football calendar and the £20 million purchase of the CSKA Moscow star could solve a number of issues in the squad.
Comment Text*Hmm not sure we need him ,the next striker to enter Utd doors should be one challenging Rashford not back up otherwise academy graduates can do that well
