Manchester United are considering shipping Tahith Chong out on a temporary deal in the upcoming transfer window in an attempt to find more game-time for the youngster, according to The Sun.
The 19-year-old has impressed interim coach Ole-Gunnar Solskjaer, who has identified him as one of the stars for the future.
However, it is believed that United have received a lot of interest for the services of Chong, who is unlikely to find regular game-time at United as they look to push for the title next season.
While clubs like Ajax haven’t been shy in making an enquiry for the youngster, it will perhaps be wiser for Chong to stay in England and in this article, we will talk about three Premier League clubs, who should definitely make a move to sign this exciting attacker on loan this summer.
Southampton
Chong made his Premier League debut in the win over Southampton earlier this month, albeit just playing one minute of football. But, it is Southampton where the 19-year-old can make a name for himself, even more so considering the Saints’ excellent reputation of nurturing young talents.
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men will be in desperate need of attacking reinforcements in the summer, provided they survive relegation this campaign and Chong, in that regard, could be an ideal target.
A tricky winger, who can oscillate down the flanks and create chances for his team in the final third, Chong can potentially be an alternative to Stuart Armstrong and his style of play will tune in well with Southampton’s high pressure attacking game under Hasenhuttl.
Burnley
No other Premier League side has managed to create fewer chances than Burnley this season, who have appeared overly reliant on the services of Ashley Westwood and Johann Gudmundsson in terms of chance creation.
Indeed, Burnley lack quality in the attacking department, even though they are above Southampton in the league table and should they manage to survive relegation this season, bulking up the attacking options will be the number one priority for coach Sean Dyche in the summer.
And that’s where Chong comes into the fray. The 19-year-old can add more speed and dynamism into the Burnley attack, making them much more dangerous on the counter.
He mainly likes to operate in a wider role, meaning he can whip in crosses for the likes of Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood, making him a tailor-made fit for the Clarets.
Everton
Everton would probably be the most logical destination for Chong for a number of reasons.
The Toffees have struggled in wider areas this season, with Theo Walcott failing to impress while the likes of Bernard and Ademola Lookman have had a mixed campaign.
But with the addition of Chong, the Portuguese mastermind will have an additional option on the wings. And considering Silva’s pragmatic approach from a tactical perspective, it won’t be surprising to see Chong thriving under the leadership of the former Watford boss.
