Wolves eyeing a move for Porto superstar: Why he’d be a good addition

Wolves are eyeing a summer transfer for FC Porto attacker Yacine Brahimi, it has been claimed.

According to the Portuguese website CM Journal, Wolves will look to sign the attacker, who might be available on a free transfer as his contract runs out in July this year.

However, the Premier League new boys will face stiff competition with Arsenal, Everton and Manchester United also interested in services of Brahimi.

Yacine Brahimi: An ideal option for Wolves

Wolves have enjoyed an impressive season under Nuno Espirito Santo so far, having secured as many as 39 points in just 26 matches.

However, they are the joint-second lowest scoring team in the top half of the league table with just 34 goals and therefore, need more attacking reinforcements in the summer if they are to push the teams above them next season.

While on the goalscoring front, the side have overly relied on the services of Raul Jimenez, the creative department has also lacked substance with Diogo Jota being the only reliable option in the attacking midfield role.

New signing Adama Traore has failed to make a notable impact, while Helder Costa and Ivan Cavaleiro have struggled with both form and injuries this season.

Brahimi, therefore, could be an intriguing option for Wolves as the Algerian international is blessed with the exact set to skills and traits that could allow him to thrive under Espirito Santo’s game plan.

For one, the Porto attacker loves to take on defenders in the final third and has averaged 2.9 dribbles per game this season. He also likes to test the keeper, having averaged 1.8 shots per game, almost one-third of which come from outside the box.

Brahimi is pretty versatile as the Algerian can play anywhere across the final third, and his physique means he is hard to knock off the ball, something that would hold him in good stead in the Premier League.

The 29-year old could be a viable target for the Wolves considering his wide range of skill-set coupled with his vast experience in European top flight. He is also available for free next summer, so Wolves won’t find it easy while trying to sign him.
