According to a report by A Bola, Everton are interested in signing Portuguese international Bruno Fernandes this month to add more quality to their midfield.
The report further states that the Premier League outfit will have to dish out around €40m to prise Fernandes out of the ranks of Primeira Liga outfit Sporting CP.

Fernandes started his youth career with Boavista and Novara and went on to represent the senior side of the latter for a season. Decent spells with Udinese and Sampdoria followed and in the summer of 2017, he was signed by Portuguese heavyweights Sporting. He hasn’t plied his trade for an English side but he has the ingredients to excel in the Premier League.
In 15 Liga NOS appearances so far this term, the 24-year-old has scored 6 goals and has also managed to bag 5 assists. Besides, he also has 2 Europa League goals to his name in 6 appearances. He has also represented the Portuguese national side in the World Cup held last year.

Versatility is unarguably one of the strongest suits of Fernandes as he is capable enough to ply his trade as a central midfielder, central attacking midfielder as well as a winger. He is most productive when he is given the license to play in the creative roles owing to his vision and ability to connect the dots in the attack.
His work-rate has generally been hailed as excellent. Fernandes does a lot of defensive duties for his side. He presses well, has the tendency to break the attacking endeavours of the opposition and dictate the tempo of the game in the middle of the park. Moreover, he is clinical once he gets forward and he usually does not waste a good opportunity when the team is on the front foot.

Everton are eleventh in the Premier League table, having collected 27 points from 21 games so far. There is still a lot of room for improvement and a player like Fernandes, who has a big reputation in Europe, could bring a breath of fresh air to the Goodison Park.
A lot is expected of Marco Silva and he has been given the tools to implement his vision and gameplay. The results so far have been mixed but the shift in tactics has been notable and mostly encouraging. He should be backed once more and the Portuguese midfielder will be a good option to bring on board in this second phase of restructuring by the gaffer.
