According to Joe Chapman, AC Milan sporting director Massimo Mirabelli has told the Italian press that the club has received an offer from Wolverhampton Wanderers regarding the services of star striker Andre Silva.
Following a big money move from FC Porto last summer, Silva has endured a difficult season at San Siro, scoring just two goals in the Serie A. That being said, he was included in Portugal’s squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, where he featured in few of the group games as well as in the knockout round fixture against Uruguay.
Coming back to Italy, it is believed that Silva has informed Wolves’ associate Mendes, who was the brain behind Cristiano Ronaldo’s stunning swap to Juventus, that he wishes to leave the club, if possible.
This has reportedly attracted the interest of Wolverhampton, who have already shown a lot of ambition in the transfer market. The newly promoted Premier League outfit will be keen on making a solid impression in the English top flight next season, following an arduous journey in the second division.
Although Wolves are yet to do any serious business thus far, aside from signing Benik Afobe while permanently securing the services of Diogo Jota and Leo Bonatini, it’s only a matter of time before they start to splash the cash this summer. They have also secured Raul Jimenez’s signature on a loan deal.
As for Andre Silva, the Portuguese sensation will be keen to seek pastures new following a horrific season at AC Milan. The 22-year-old had worked with Wolves’ head coach Nuno Espirito Santo during their time together at Porto. In fact, the Portuguese manager played a key role in Silva’s progress which eventually saw him becomeĀ one of the most promising attackers for his country.
And it is believed that the 44-year-old is keen for a reunion with the highly rated attacker next season. Even though the Premier League outfit have already signed star striker Raul Jimenez on loan from Benfica, the addition of Andre Silva, who is a more complete forward could be a boon for Wolves.
Furthermore, Silva is also advertised as a versatile forward who can shift into wider positions in order to carve out spaces for his teammates in the final third, making him an ideal operator in Nuno Espirito’s tactical setup.
But what makes him such an appealing target for Wolverhampton is the fact that he is not expected to cost a fortune either due to AC Milan’s financial problems that could force them to ship out a few of their star players this summer.
