Portuguese giants FC Porto are ready to cash in on their star striker Moussa Marega this summer, as the Malian international has attracted considerable interest from top Premier League clubs.
Marega, who has been in sensational form of late, has been one of rising stars of the Portuguese top division this season, scoring 20 goals in just 24 matches. His impressive goalscoring tally has helped Porto maintain their hopes of landing the league title come the end of the season.
However, that being said, Marega is widely expected to leave the club at the end of the season, despite having a contract till 2020. According to reports, the 26-year-old fancies a move to England, with Everton and West Ham apparently vying for his signature.
Everton, in particular, have struggled a lot with their transfer market activity, of late. Almost none of their last summer signings have worked out for the Toffees this season, which has led to a barrage of criticism as well as mediocrity throughout the entirety of this campaign.
Sam Allardyce’s men have struggled a lot, especially in the attacking department. Wayne Rooney’s deterioration is clearly evident while youngsters like Shani Tarashaj and Dominic-Calvert Lewin are yet to take up the responsibility of replacing Romelu Lukaku.
Even though new signing Cenk Tosun has been in decent nick in recent matches, no guarantees can be made regarding his long-term form. Therefore, Everton are in desperate need of a new striker this summer.
Moussa Marega, in that case, could be an ideal signing for the Merseyside giants. The 26-year-old has prevailed in Porto’s direct football this season, meaning he should be equally comfortable in fitting into Sam Allardyce’s typical footballing philosophy.
Although he may not be the tallest of strikers around, Marega is blessed with sheer physicality, which often helps him challenge almost every ball around the penalty area. An explosive striker, who doesn’t only have the ability to provide the physical presence inside the box but also has the awareness to be at the right place at the right time, which is reflected in his impressive scoring tally.
Furthermore, Marega is still young and if he can keep up his form, he might transform into one of the strongest attacking assets for the Toffees in the coming years.
But for the time being, Moussa Marega can be signed as a back-up for Turkish sensation Cenk Tosun but his versatility in the offensive areas will enable him to act as a secondary striker, just in behind the former Besiktas number nine.
Everton are all set to put in a bid of £35m for the Porto attacking sensation this summer, who looks more than ready to take the next step in his career.
