The Premier League is back this weekend as clubs from around the country get ready for the 27th Matchday of the domestic league this season. The points table has already taken shape and most teams know where they can hope to be, come the end of the season.
This weekend has a number of exciting games, that are sure to produce great entertainment, even for the neutral. There are a number of high-octane clashes, that could be decided by individual brilliance and there are a number of stars, who are expected to light up the league this match-day.
But who are the most exciting stars on show this weekend? Here are three players to look out for in GW27 in the Premier League:
Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur) vs Arsenal:
The Gunners are travelling to Wembley this weekend and they will have already made special plans to keep English goal scorer Harry Kane quiet. Kane has always loved playing against Arsenal and has six goals in seven games against the Gunners. He failed to score at the Emirates in the reverse fixture but is in decent form and is certainly the biggest threat for Arsenal in this game.
Jamie Vardy (Leicester City) vs Manchester City:
Though he has only four goals in nine games against Manchester City in his career, Jamie Vardy will be raring to take on the league leaders at Etihad this weekend. City are expected to dominate the ball, which will play into Leicester City’s hands and if Vardy is given the right service, he can seriously cause damage to Pep Guardiola’s side. He will line up against the likes of Nicolas Otamendi., who has been among the best defenders in the league this season but on his day, the English star can win games on his own and is certainly a player to watch out for this weekend.
Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool) vs Southampton:
The Saints made a big fuss of Liverpool’s interest in Dutch defender Virgil van Dijk in the summer, only to end up selling him for a record fee just months later. And for the first time since his move to Anfield, van Dijk will step on to the pitch at St Mary’s and is not expected to be received well. He will be under pressure to perform for his side and prove himself and in an already error-prone backline, could be the man to watch out for.
