2 Changes at the Back: Predicted 4-2-3-1 Liverpool Lineup vs Tottenham | Carabao Cup

In their quest to reach the Carabao Cup final for the second season running and subsequently retain the trophy, Liverpool host Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield in the semi-final second leg on Thursday evening.

The Reds were beaten 1-0 by Spurs in the first leg of the semi-final last month thanks to a late strike from Lucas Bergvall. Since that defeat, they have won five of their seven games across all competitions including a 2-0 success over Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday.

Arne Slot’s side are in good form and will be confident of beating Spurs, who ended their long winless run in the Premier League on Sunday with a 2-0 success over Brentford.

Liverpool Team News

Liverpool suffered a blow in their 2-0 win over Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium after Trent Alexander-Arnold was forced off with an injury in the second half. The right-back remains a big doubt for the upcoming cup game against Spurs.

Joe Gomez has returned to training after recovering from injury and could be in the squad for Thursday’s fixture.

Predicted Liverpool lineup vs Tottenham (4-2-3-1)

Goalkeeper

Liverpool’s undisputed No.1, Alisson Becker made some outstanding saves to keep a clean sheet in the 2-0 win over Bournemouth. He will be in high spirits heading into the game against Spurs.

Defence

Trent Alexander-Arnold looks unlikely to be fit for this fixture, so Arne Slot will turn toward Conor Bradley to start at right-back. Andy Robertson started at left-back in the 2-0 win over Bournemouth, but Slot could freshen things up at the back by going with Kostas Tsimikas in that position.

There is no looking past Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate in central defence, and the duo have to be at their best to nullify Richarlison’s threat in the box.

Midfield

Alexis Mac Allister has built a strong partnership with Ryan Gravenberch in the middle of the park this season and is set to keep his place in the Liverpool lineup. The duo will try to take control of the game as quickly as possible and exploit spaces between Tottenham’s midfield and defence.

Dominik Szoboszlai has been in good nick of late and deserves to keep his place in the No.10 role, with Curtis Jones primed to come off the bench in the second half. Harvey Elliot and Wataru Endo should provide cover for midfield areas.

Attack

Mohamed Salah continued his wonderful season on Sunday with a brace against Bournemouth. The Egyptian is a sure-fix starter on the right flank, with Cody Gakpo providing flair, pace, and creativity from the opposite wing.

Luis Diaz should lead the Reds’ attack once again, hoping to take advantage of Spurs’ patched-up defence in midweek. Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota could provide fresh legs in attack when required.
