Richarlison To Start: 4-2-3-1 Tottenham Hotspur Predicted Lineup vs Burnley

Tottenham Hotspur will hope to put behind their early Carabao Cup exit disappointment when they travel to Turf Moor to face newly-promoted Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday.

Spurs were dumped out in the second round of the Carabao Cup by Fulham on Tuesday, as Ange Postecoglou’s much-changed side lost 5-3 in the penalty shootout. They have little time to lick their wounds and must move on as a quick turnaround sees them in Premier League action against Burnley.

The North London outfit have picked up seven points from their opening three league games and Postecoglou will expect a rousing response from his boys at Turf Moor, where Burnley were beaten 3-1 by Aston Villa last weekend.

Tottenham Team News

Tottenham emerged from their cup loss to Fulham with a fresh concern to report, as Richarlison took a whack to his ankle and was replaced by Dejan Kulusevski with 20 minutes to go.

Rodrigo Bentancur won’t feature again until November or December at the earliest due to a serious knee injury. Meanwhile, Ryan Sessegnon and Bryan Gil are also out injured long-term.

Goalkeeper

Fraser Forster started in goal for Spurs in their cup defeat to Fulham in midweek, but Postecoglou is set to recall Guglielmo Vicario into his starting XI. The Italian has been solid across the opening three games and will be looking to keep a clean sheet at Turf Moor.

Defence

Lining up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, Micky van de Ven should partner Cristian Romero at the heart of defence in the Tottenham lineup.

Destiny Udogie and Pedro Porro will act as full-backs in the Tottenham lineup, looking to protect the centre-backs and provide width to Postecoglou’s team as well.

The entire Spurs’ defensive unit have to be strong and alert to keep the Burnley forwards at bay.

Midfield

After making changes to his midfield as well for the EFL Cup tie, Postecoglou will revert to type against Burnley, as James Maddison rejoins Pape Sarr and Yves Bissouma in an exciting midfield trio.

Sarr and Bissouma will hold the midfield as well as protect Spurs’ defence, allowing Maddison the freedom to create havoc in the final third of the pitch.

Oliver Skipp, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Giovani Lo Celso will drop to the bench after playing against Fulham in midweek.

Attack

Richarlison is expected to shrug off the knock he sustained in midweek at Craven Cottage and lead the Tottenham attack against Vincent Kompany’s side.

Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski came off the bench in the EFL Cup game at Fulham but they will be starters here in the Tottenham lineup, with both wide players adding creativity, energy and flair to Postecoglou’s side in the attack.

Manor Solomon and Carlos Vinicius will look to make an impression off the bench against Burnley if called upon.
