Tottenham Working On A Move For Juventus Attacker

Tottenham Hotspur could reportedly be a potential destination for Dejan Kulusevski in January, with Juventus willing to listen to offers.

Juventus paid €35m to Atalanta to sign the Swedish international in January 2020, plus add-ons. After a solid debut season with Old Lady where he bagged seven goals and as many assists in 47 appearances in all formats, the attacker has fallen down the pecking order since Max Allegri’s arrival at the beginning of the season.

According to Calciomercato, Tottenham would be keen to sign Dejan Kulusevski, 21, in January if chairman Daniel Levy is prepared to loosen his purse strings. The report adds Juventus value the Swede no less than €35 million, however, Tottenham may face competition from Atalanta and Fiorentina for the player’s signature.

Earlier this month, Spurs made a high-profile managerial appointment in Antonio Conte to replace the sacked Nuno Espirito Santo after a string of poor results in the Premier League. The outspoken Italian, 52, has overseen two Tottenham games and will soon enter the winter transfer market in a bid to improve his squad.

Dejan Kulusevski to Tottenham—A terrific signing for Antonio Conte?

Antonio Conte will certainly want a couple of new additions to boost the north London club’s chances of qualifying for Europe. One of the areas he must look to strengthen is his attack, with Spurs having struggled in front of goal since the start of the season.

Harry Kane has looked a shadow of his former self after being denied a summer move to Manchester City, while the likes of Lucas Moura, Dele Alli and Steven Bergwijn have blown hot and cold. Son Heung-min has been the only bright spot in the Spurs attack, netting four league goals in 10 games.

Thus, it would be good if Conte addresses Spurs’ issues in the final third by bringing in a creative player during the mid-season trading period to boost his attack. That being said, the north London side must make a move for Juventus playmaker Dejan Kulusevski.

Kulusevski is an extremely versatile attacker who can play on either wing, down the middle as a false 9, second striker and in the hole behind the striker or as a right midfielder. The player’s versatility could prove to be a blessing for a tactically astute manager like Conte to come up with a different dimension to a game’s approach.

Blessed with a good turn of pace, dribbling skills, close control and physical strength, the 21-year-old can cut open the most rigid defences with his incisive passing and creativity. The Swedish international would add assists and goals to Conte’s side while being a handy option to have from the bench. The ex-Atalanta starlet’s calm and composed nature in front of goal would be an added bonus for the Lilywhites.

A sublime talent with great potential, Kulusevski would represent one of the best bits of business in the Conte era if Spurs manages to get a deal over the line in January.
