Real Madrid are interested in signing Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer. The Gabon international has been with the club since 2018 and has scored 85 times for the club in all competitions.
Spain’s El Gol Digital have reported that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is seen as a low-cost option to Kylian Mbappe. The report claims that the Arsenal striker could be bought for a fee of around €20 million this summer. Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti is a fan of Mbappe and wants him at Real Madrid, but with the Spanish club not able to bring in the Frenchman this window, they are looking at other alternatives. Madrid could reportedly bring the Gunners skipper on loan at first.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Manchester United’s Anthony Martial are seen as alternatives to the Paris Saint-Germain attacker. Aubameyang has two years remaining on his current deal at Arsenal.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang: A good option for them?
It seems that Real Madrid have no chance of signing Mbappe this season, but they have a better chance of signing the Frenchman next season, when he becomes a free agent. Ancelotti, it seems, wants another forward this campaign who will not be too expensive, to ease the burden on current striker Karim Benzema, and also tend to other areas of the pitch, especially the defence.
Madrid currently have two strikers in the first team, with Benzema being the first-choice, while the other option, Luka Jovic, seems to be heading out of the club. The Spanish giants desperately need to bring in another striker to have the luxury of giving Benzema a rest once in a while and keep him fresh for key games.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could be a decent signing for Real Madrid, as a backup to the French forward and also as someone who would seamlessly fit into the attacking line of Los Blancos. The 32-year-old has previously stated his desire to play for the La Liga club and with Arsenal also interested in letting him go, this could be a good deal for all parties involved. The Arsenal forward can be a huge threat on his day as his speed and dribbling ability can cause trouble to opposition defenders.
Aubameyang is a neat finisher as well, which is evident in his goal-scoring rate, scoring more than a goal a game. The Gabon forward could also operate on the left side of attack, perhaps as a backup to Eden Hazard, who has had his struggles at the club, both form and injury wise. Aubameyang is an experienced forward, who will offer loads of goals for Madrid if he can get back to his past form. He had a tough last year with the Gunners and could find the allure of Real Madrid hard to turn down if they do come calling.
